Meet our graduates :
Harry Taylor has a Masters in Management, and completed his project with Craig Goodenough and RCG Creations. This team is involved in the local Education IT sector, and provide services including Cloud and Voice solutions and consultation services. Harry has been working on "...the development of a database-driven user interface for an innovative management system".
Harry has just joined the RCG Creations team as a Software Developer, after proving his worth during his industry project - well done!
Sakinah Abdul has just secured a role with fast growing Christchurch company Orbica. With a Bachelor in Information Technology behind her, Sakinah decided to also complete SHIFT as it is focused heavily on linking students with the tech industry.
“During my project I completed business analysis to help the team at Orbica select the right solution for their Agile Management. I also helped to automate some office processes to improve their workflow, and worked alongside the software development team on Orbica's new product, making it ready for production by testing and diagnosing and fixing bugs”. Congratulations Sakinah, enjoy your new role as a full stack developer at Orbica.
Felicia Sacramento has a degree in Computer Engineering, and as her previous career included working as an air traffic controller, her Industry Project with Airways was a perfect fit. “My work experience at Airways gave me a wide range of learning opportunities to explore different tools and programming languages. I enjoyed the practical applications of what I learned in SHIFT, plus my previous experience, to help improve their [Airways] existing tools. The gradual approach and scaffolding helped me a lot in improving my skills. By leveraging on the expertise of my mentor and the others on the team, I was able to increase my technical knowledge”.
We look forward to following this talented group in their next career steps. and we look forward to hosting you all at the Industry Showcase, so please register here.
