Sakinah has a Bachelor of Information Technology from Otago Polytechnic and she has joined Shift to "build up my network, earn some work experience and increase my employability."
Felicia has a computer engineering degree from the Philippines and then worked as an Air Traffic Controller for 12 years before coming to New Zealand. She envisions Shift will "enable and empower me to reignite my programming skills to eventually help me become work-ready. I am invested to take as much knowledge and practical skills from this course and apply them in more meaningful ways."
Dewi worked as an Engineering Geologist in Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand for a decade before deciding that she wanted to be involved in managing IT projects in the future. "I believe that Shift will equip me with the skills to be work ready, as well as introduce me to the ICT industry sector."
Harry is a Masters of Management graduate who studied changes in workplaces and societies around the globe. "When I realised the dominating role ICT plays in these changes, I knew I had to be a part of the future. When I came across SIGNAL, it stood out as the perfect gateway for me into the IT industry. A professional setting where I’d be exposed to the wide range of skills and positions vital to the industry."
Samantha describes herself as "an ever-evolving being with the ability to change and adapt along with the flow of time." Not surprisingly, the flexibility of the Shift programme appealed to her economics and sociology background as she seeks "a career that not only encourages growth of technical skills and being up to date with the current technology and software available, but also challenges my creative side."
The students are enjoying their first project as a team investigating an app development around native planting in New Zealand.
