SIGNAL Director presents on Industry-based Education at ITx Rutherford

ITx focuses on innovation, technology and education, and brings IT professionals, decision-makers, leaders and academics together to network, learn and engage.

The conference included the annual CITRENZ (Computing and Information Technology Research and Education New Zealand) conference, and was hosted by IT Professionals NZ (ITP), the largest IT representative body in NZ with thousands of members across the country and direct relationships with Government, academia and the industry.  

Keynote Dheeren VĂ©lu,  Director of Artificial Intelligence at CapGemini (Melbourne) spoke about AI: Trends and Ethics.  For an interesting presentation look up his TedX talk: Get some skin in the game. 

SIGNAL Director Stuart Charters' presentation on 'Industry-based Education: What it is and why it is important' was based upon the innovations and successes of SIGNAL's programmes, and sparked a great deal of interest and further inquiry from attendees.

A huge congratulations to Jamie Vaughan, ICT manager at Gallaway Cook Allan, and XTEND participant, who delivered his academic paper entitled 'Changing Professional Identity' based upon his experience with the XTEND programme.
