Technology projects and software development are just about the technical stuff, right? Wrong!
Software is built for people, by people, and the outcomes of the project are affected by the values demonstrated by the people involved. Michael, a Business Analyst, had an inkling that he could impact positive change within his organisation by actively and deliberately living and demonstrating the values he aspired to.
Through a series of action research cycles, Michael saw the ripple effect of this change in three ways: personally, within his own organisation and within the wider national community.
This has led to a number of changes at his organisation already with more on the horizon, both bottom up and top down. These changes ranged from the way people conducted themselves and the resulting increase in psychological safety, to methods and tools that teams used, including an innovation sandbox which has seen new solutions emerge to better tackle the issue in front of the team.
During the course of his programme, Michael saw his professional aspirations develop and proved that the actions of one person can indeed make lasting and impactful positive change.
We wish Michael well as he continues on his journey to cultivate a culture of values-based Software Development within the Health Industry.
