ITx gave the SIGNAL team a chance to mix, mingle and promote SIGNAL to a wide range of tech professionals, plus hear national and international speakers share their thoughts, ideas and processes.
AI, deep learning, robotics, cloud based services, ethics, empathy, team culture, work-forces of the future, IoT, Agile, cyber-security and a host of other topics were included. There was a strong focus on diversity and inclusion, workplace health and well-being, and how to look after yourself and your staff. These topics all fitted well with the soft launch of Signal's new industry offering TechGuild, which focuses upon increasing capabilities across a range of technical and soft skills. We will be profiling TechGuild in our next newsletter.
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners in the Excellence in IT Awards. This competition showcased the huge breadth of talent within NZ's tech sector, and also how tech is being used to improve our lives.
A huge congratulations to our very own Jamie Vaughan, ICT manager at Gallaway Cook Allan, and Xtend participant, who delivered his first academic paper entitled 'Continuing Professional Development: Returning to study with Work-Based Learning' based upon his experience with the Xtend programme. The next day he was awarded the prize for best research paper at the Citrenz conference, and has a rather large trophy to prove it!
Also a shout-out to those recognised for their services to the industry, IITPnz president Paul Matthews, Simon Ferrari, general manager of Datacom Systems Ltd, and Murray Wills, independent consultant, strategy and governance advisor and virtual CIO, all of whom have had positive impact upon the tech industry in NZ. A huge congratulations to the IITPNZ team who did an amazing job of curating and delivering a fantastic three day ITx event. See you next time!
