Friday 18th May

Saturday 19th May

Going Global: Technology and Disruption in NZ Music. Learn about how technology has affected New Zealand Music distribution and exposure in the global music landscape.  Thanks to Scott Muir, manager of legendary band The Chills,  for sharing his insights in this event.  

Tūhura Community Trust Science Centre Showcase. Visit NZ's newest state-of-the-art science center, featuring an interactive experiments area, 3-story tropical forest and planetarium.  Daily during Techweek!  


Monday 21st May

- 'There’s Room - Broadening Our Networks Together' Dunedin's first NZ TechWomen meetup.  Hear from NZ TechWomen Leaders plus hear from Local Dunedin tech company Director Rebecca Twemlow, on the value of diversity and networking.  Suitable for anyone keen to encourage greater diversity in our tech sector!  On @SIGNAL Dunedin from 5.30pm.

Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies 101. Dr John Williams from the University of Otago will de-mystify blockchain and cryptocurrencies and discuss the potential implications.

- CHIASMA Student Site Visit to Cancer Diagnostics Company Pacific Edge. Pacific Edge welcomes science students to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of life in a biotech company.

State of the (Maker) Nation - Dunedin. Short updates focused on makerspaces in schools, libraries and the community. Experts in each field will give a summary of what is happening now and in the foreseeable future in their respective areas, followed by a round of lightning pitches by groups in the Maker community.  

PetriKucha. Hosted by Petridish, PetriKucha will be a fun and fast paced evening of short presentations in the theme of TECHNOLOGY FOR LIFE.  From 7pm @ Petridish

- National Coworking Day. Free coworking throughout New Zealand! Enjoy a free coworking week at Innov8HQ or Petridish from 21 - 25  May 2018.


Tuesday 22nd May

- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - what does it mean and how can we best use it? Come and hear Greg Peyroux, Managing Director at Iris Data Science, present a number of examples to illustrate what is possible, including how machines are outperforming humans in numerous tasks.  On @SIGNAL Dunedin from 12.30pm.

- Ngāi Tahu Tech. An overview of how Ngāi Tahu individuals and collectives are using tech and R&D to benefit whānau, hapū and iwi. On @ Innov8HQ from 5.30pm.  

Mosgiel Tech for Seniors. An info session for seniors who use computers or mobile devices, and want to learn more about keeping their information safe online.

Reliability Improvement Methodology for Subsea Pipeline Construction. This seminar for project managers and engineers will discuss reliability risk reduction in construction of oil and gas subsea pipelines.

Port Chalmers Tech for Seniors. An informative session for seniors who use computers or mobile devices, who would like to know more about keeping their data safe online.

Let's Make a Video! Let's Make a Video is an interactive one hour workshop to break down the mystery of video marketing for your business!

Institute of Directors - Site visit event to TracPlus. Chair of TracPlus, John Gallaher, will outline the governance issues associated with a high growth tech company and Chief Executive, Trevor McIntyre, will outline the story of TracPlus and its plans for the future.

Bringing future technology to kiwi kids: what does it look like? This session is for all teachers, leaders and BOT's who are seeking a meaningful context for digital technologies learning.

Techweek: Open All Hours, the library that fits on your phone. Bring your lunch for a flying visit to the library to find out what library technology can do for people who are too busy to read.

Electric vehicles: clean and green computers on wheels? Get the latest local science lowdown on electric vehicles.

Innovation & Number 8 Wire - NZ Innovation Historically. Talk by Gavin O'Brien on Ernest and Hannah Hayes, innovation in the design and marketing of products in the Maniototo in the 19th century.

Dunedin Techweek TEXpo. Dunedin's first TEXpo, celebrating Dunedin's amazing tech success at two sites Otago Polytechnic & Otago University, sponsored by SIGNAL.   Over forty Dunedin tech companies will show their products, alongside Students,staff and researchers from both sites... This will  be great fun for the whole family with Penguin conservation and virtual Takahe, gaming and robots, plus much more!

Maker trail. Come and see what local makers are up to at the TEXpo.
