Be part of the action as SIGNAL Director Dr Stuart Charters joins forces with international Chef Hannes Bareiter, in a culinary competition that will feed more than just the guests, for many months to come!
Savour Dunedin is a yearly fundraising event for KiwiHarvest/Foodshare, who rescue perfectly usable food from retailers and restaurants and turn it into meals for those who most need it. The brainchild of philanthropist Deborah Manning, KiwiHarvest's great work can turn $1 of funds into three meals, and at the same time reduces waste at our landfills.
Tuesday October 17 will see Dunedin's top local chefs teaming up with local CEO's and business leaders to deliver their own signature dishes using top quality local fare, providing a Chef's Table experience, for clients, colleagues and friends. This stunning and fun culinary competition will be held at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin, and kicks off from 5.30, with meal service starting from 6.15pm.
Stuart's mentor this year is Hannes Bareiter, acclaimed Chef at Glenfalloch Restaurant, which has just been named one of Dunedin's top ten restaurants. Hannes took part in Savour Dunedin last year, and says "Savour Dunedin is a really good event to support, as they do great work, and as a chef it is really fun to see what other restaurants come up with. I also do cooking classes, so really enjoy working with non-chefs. It will be another great event!"
Stuart's aim is to raise at least $2000, and you can help in two ways:
1. Join us at the SIGNAL Table, where you will have see the chef and his apprentice in action, and savour the delights from several of the teams participating on the night. Seats are just $100 +gst, with ALL funds going to KiwiHarvest. There are limited seats available, so please contact us here to secure your seat.

KiwiHarvest helps over 60 social service organisations, food banks and other community groups in Dunedin to access fresh (perishable) food rather than only dried and canned food. In 5 years FoodShare/KiwiHarvest has rescued and distributed 750 tonnes of perfectly good food, providing 2.1 million meals to people with food insecurity in our community.
