The impactNPO Hackathon returns to Dunedin, 10-12 May, following on from the first Dunedin event late last year. SIGNAL and and Platinum Recruitment are pleased to be co-sponsoring this fun, productive and very worthwhile community event.
The Hackathon is an opportunity for socially aware volunteers to come together to solve problems for local Not For Profit organisations (NPOs), in whatever way they can. To read more about the previous event in Dunedin, check out Nathan Moffatt's article from last year's newsletter.
What is impactNPO?
Designed to assist local NPOs, this volunteer organisation runs fun, high-energy and impactful weekends where teams of tech, design and business professionals work together to build solutions for local charities. With a mission of 'Harnessing ingenuity for good', impactNPO Hackathons let you broaden your network, meet new people, work on creative solutions, and benefit a local NPO or charity for the good of the community!
What can we expect as results for the NPOs?"
This depends on you, your team, and the needs of your chosen NPO! We have helped numerous NPOs with websites, IT infrastructure, design, branding, content as well as general advice. For more info check the list on impactnpo.org.
The weekend starts on Friday 10 May, from 6pm - 8pm, with networking, charity introductions, and team forming. You will be volunteering your weekend (Saturday 10 November and Sunday 11 November), and we will provide the daytime food and snacks all weekend to keep you well fed and energised!
How can local NPOs apply?
We invite local charities to apply for consideration, just apply through the link here: http://www.impactnpo.org/benefitsnpo.
The Charities that will be attending the event will be announced soon.
What do I need to bring?
An open mind, a smile and your own computer/laptop. Don’t forget your phone, chargers or any other gadgets that you rely on.
What's in it for me?
First and foremost we aim to help local NPOs, who often have quite a lot of tech challenges. Through this, you may find that you meet new people from different companies or industries, make contacts if you're looking for work, or get to step outside of your comfort zone and learn something new through a weekend project. Or just have a fun weekend working as part of a team to deliver something that is really useful to the community!
Join us for a fun weekend of creative problem-solving that is good for the community!
